A Parents Guide to Video Games Ratings

Video game popularity is at an all-time high. Children as young as 3 years old are joining the virtual craze. However, this trend in technology has alarmed some. Parents would like a way to determine if a particular video game is not too mature for their child. ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) a group that advocates making informed decisions, has come up with a way to assist parents.
ESRB has come up with a 6 category system to aide parents in identifying what is appropriate for their child's age and video game play. The categories range from "EC," or Early Childhood, and are appropriate for all ages to "M" for Mature, where recommends that people only that are 17 years or older view and play the game.
ESRB has done more than categorize video game content. The groups also provide content descriptions of the video games and the rationale to why a game got a certain rating.
