Toddler bed vs. Twin bed
Well my 2 year old (he turned in December) has started climbing out of his crib, so I guess it is time to get him a "big boy bed". Now we have to decide if we go right to a twin bed or step down to a toddler bed for now. It seems like he wouldn't be in a toddler bed for more than, what 2 years?
And does anyone have any ideas on where to shop for good used furniture? I have tried the resale kids shops in Rochester and on Stevenson. I am leaning towards the twin bed, and don't really want to spend upwards of $500 on a bedroom set from Bedroom Expressions or Ashley. But then don't want to go to Big Lots and get a pressed wood and glue jobbie either!!! LOL
I have tried ebay and craiglist and so far not luck......

Re: Toddler bed vs. Twin bed
We did a toddler bed with both kids. As they started to climb out of their cribs very quickly.
So when Frank needed the toddler bed, we had to get a twin for Aili.
We started with just the twin mattress on the floor. Then after she stopped falling off of that (maybe 3 months later), we got the box spring, frame and head board. We got all 3 pieces at Just Beds behind the new MCL. The mattress was 80 I think and the box spring, frame and headboard together were 100. They will give you a 'deal' if you buy more than one this at a time. The mattress and box spring were the cheapest they had. I didn't think my 3 year old needed back support.

I got a toddler bed at Toys R Us and it was around $100, I think. That was 3 years ago, but it's worth a look.

Re: Toddler bed vs. Twin bed
we got a sweet, light wood toddler bed w/ build on half rails for, i think, $60 at Shopko. it is really cute and looks like a miniature big bed (sans the rails of course). we thought it was a great deal and it gets an "awwww" everytime someone sees it. of course the crib mattress fits on it, but our little guy feels big in it!
